It starts with something like a potluck, then your boss wants you to organize an ugly sweater contest. Soon afterwards, everyone is chiming in on how great it would be to see some decorations in the office. While this is holiday fun for most, for the office manager it's just adding onto the list. If you find yourself becoming a bah humbug, here are a few tips to help you balance work and holiday festivities.

Ready the list!

There’s a reason why Santa works all year round for one night. If you have a potluck every year, then you know the drill. Think about what you ran out of last year and make a list of items you’ll need.

Check it twice

A lot of things can get lost during the holiday frenzy; so it’s always a good idea to have another set of eyes look over your lists. For Garvey’s customers, you can setup a final approver to make sure there's no double ordering.

Find out who’s nice

Just because you are the chief holiday organizer doesn’t mean you have to do everything. Many people in the office would love to share the workload. According to the New York Times, employees are happier around the holidays and more likely to take on additional duties to help others out!
