Garvey's can help! In an effort to make it easier for you to start a recycling program at your office, Garvey's has announced three recycling initiatives to get you started: Toner, Cardboard and Battery Recycling Programs.

In 2007 Garvey's started a toner recycling program called "Recycle for a Reason". If you return your empty cartridges to us, we not only turn them over for recycling, but we put the proceeds to good use- local charities. In 2007, we were able to raise $8,100 for Mercy Home for Boys & Girls, Easter Seals and Misericordia Heart of Mercy. In 2008, we were able to raise over $10,000 for Jane Addams Hull House, Girls Scouts of Greater Chicago & NW Indiana and Rotary Club of Chicago Near South. In 2009, we will be raising funds for Aspire, Jobs for Youth Chicago, Uhlich Children's Home, and Chicago Lighthouse for the Blind. It's a win/win situation, and it's never too late to start. 2. Cardboard Recycling Program

In addition to recycling toner cartridges, we will be collecting and recycling cardboard. Simply flatten any cardboad boxes received with your order, and when convenient give the pile to a Garvey's driver. Garvey's will either re-use or recycle the boxes with our cardboard bailer. This should cut down on your wast pick-up considerably.

3. Battery Recycling Program

Looking for ways to recycle your old batteries? Garvey's is now collecting and recycling used batteries that were purchased from us. This program is easy to use. There are no special containers for the return. All you have to do is place old/unused batteries into an envelope or small box, depending upon the amount to be recycled, and hand it back to a Garvey's driver. The driver will then bring them back here, where we will consolidate them and ship them off to Waste Management for recycling.
